Engineering

What are your design and engineering needs? Our design team and professional engineers have experience on hundreds of projects across the country.

With our large mechanical engineering team, we use the latest technology to deliver target value design encompasses both the owner and the architect’s vision as well as the contractor’s need to help control the schedule, reduce cost, add value to key components and improve construct-ability. Additive, collaborative, innovative – three critical elements required for any successful building design team. Our engineering team embodies all three traits and approaches design uniquely than from typical consulting firm. Our integrated team of engineers, designers and virtual design and construction experts are trained to design for the full life-cycle of a building.

Balance describes the confirmation of proper airflow to any specific area. This is not only recirculated air, but includes fresh air make-up and exhaust as well. We often find many applications where a supply register is air conditioning a thermostat or zone sensor providing “false” readings causing the system to short-cycle, keeping other areas uncomfortable. Many applications are designed to keep a space positively pressurized so when the door opens, air slightly blows out. If the outside air make-up system is dirty, inoperative, or out of balance with the exhaust – hot air rushes in at places where there is no means to condition it before entering the occupied spaces.

Construction

Design of a system is very important. We service commercial and industrial spaces and find all too often that current needs are not properly addressed. Consider that an original tenant was a bank – required (2) 3 ton units. After 6 years, the bank leaves and a coffee shop takes over the space. This requires upgrading the front unit to a 5 ton for increased occupants and coffee brewing equipment – so no changes to the duct work are made, just a larger unit is installed. Then the coffee shop expands its product line to include hot foods and frozen drinks adding refrigerators, display cases, ovens , and blenders… The HVAC system gets upgraded through curb adapters to have a 5 ton unit in place of the 3 ton unit for the back and a 7.5 ton unit is installed for the front. Rarely is the duct work reviewed to allow the increased airflow from the original 3 ton units, the energy savings from to adapting better exhaust is lost, nor is there a review of the temperature sensor locations to best sense the environment.  All of these design factors greatly impact the Balance resulting in decreased comfort
